Missions

Nazarene Missions International (NMI) is an organization designed to inform us about what is going on in the work and lives of missionaries throughout the world that are supported by the Nazarene denomination. The Church of the Nazarene supports over 773 missionaries in 156 world areas. Ashland First Church has a vision for missions not only internationally, but locally as well. We offer a variety of ways to become involved.

Missions Education
We believe that it is important to educate the local church about mission work around the world. This is done through missionary books, special missionary speakers, and regular updates on current missionary successes and global concerns.

Faith Promise
Faith Promise is our annual focus of making a missional investment in others- both globally and locally.  Each year on a designated Sunday we will make our Faith Promise pledges for the next 12 months.  These pledges will be the money that- as God enables us- we commit to give to missions.  All Faith Promise monies go to support missions beyond our local church budget.

Work & Witness
Ashland First Church has a long history of sending work and witness teams to various places around the world to spread the gospel through construction projects, evangelism, and compassionate ministry. Work and witness opportunities are offered through our church, as well as through the Eastern Kentucky District. During the summer of 2014, our church sent a group to partner in ministry with a Nazarene church located on the Cherokee Indian Reservation in Cherokee, North Carolina.

LINKS
The LINKS (Loving Interested Nazarenes Knowing and Sharing) program of the Church of the Nazarene is a network of personal connections between missionaries and Nazarenes around the world. This gives each church an opportunity to become personally acquainted with a specific missionary family and their field of service. Churches can send packages, cash gifts, cards, and other remembrances to their LINKS missionaries.

Child Sponsorship
There are so many children world wide who need help with food, housing and education. Through our Nazarene Compassionate Ministries program, we offer individuals, families and Sunday School classes the opportunity to care for disadvantaged children. All sponsors have direct contact with their child on a regular basis through cards and letters.
